Victoria Molchan Photography

Artist Statement

I take photographs as a methodology to better understand myself.  Photography for me is a way to learn which subjects peak my curiosity, give me joy, or simply excite me.  I can walk around an entire day in the city and not take a single photograph and then on the train ride home be inspired to press the shutter a hundred times.  I find that the less expectations I have the more successful I am.  My camera is like a personal yoga class, forcing me to relax and just take everything in around me.  Let the subjects find me, rather than me hunting them down.
